Children’s Bureau of New Orleans will partner with the New Orleans Track Club (NOTC) for its Folgers Resilience Run / Walk on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2015 in remembrance of the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina’s landfall.


“Focused on the perseverance and spirit of New Orleans, the Folgers Resilience Run / Walk will welcome runners and walkers of all skill levels who want to celebrate the City on a significant date in its history,” says an official from the New Orleans Track Club.


Funds generated by the event will be donated to ten local nonprofit organizations, which have contributed to New Orleans’ growth in the past decade, including Children’s Bureau.


Registration for the Folgers Resilience Run / Walk is now open online at When participants register, they are asked to designate a charity of their choice. Children’s Bureau is promoting the event and asking the community to select Children’s Bureau of as its designee of the proceeds.

Annual Bowling for Children’s Bureau Set for Thursday, May 28

The Children’s Bureau of New Orleans will hold its annual Bowling for Children’s Bureau fundraising event on Thursday, May 28 from 5:30 to 9:30 pm at the new Fulton Alley complex.


The event is especially critical this year as the state has consistently cut funding for children’s mental health services year after year; last year we had to eliminate five critical positions due to state funding cuts.  


It’s the fifth year of Bowling for Children’s Bureau, which has become a popular team-building outing among co-workers with several companies around town participating year in and year out, including Entergy New Orleans, Siemens, Reily Food Company, Cox Communications, and many more.


“Fulton Alley is a great new venue in town. The food and fun of watching bowling, plus the affordable ticket price make the event a great night out for friends and co-workers.” said Paulette Carter, CEO of Children’s Bureau of New Orleans.  “Events such as this help fill the gaps that are created as a result of reductions in funding.  We need the community’s support and that of the businesses in town to serve the city’s neediest youth.”


Individual tickets for “Bowling for Children’s Bureau” are $50 in advance and can be purchased by calling the Children’s Bureau of New Orleans office at (504) 525-2366.  Tickets will be $60 at the door. Admission to the event includes complimentary food, a featured specialty cocktail and free beer. A full, cash bar will be offered, as well.

New Leadership Announced at Children's Bureau

Joy Banks, PhD Joins Children's Bureau of New Orleans



The Children's Bureau is proud to announce that Joy Banks, PhD has joined the staff as Deputy Director. In this role, Joy will work closely with CEO Paulette Carter to advance the organization's mission through organizational planning and management. She will lead and support both internal and external leadership activities including administration, operations, on-going partnerships and collaborations.


Joy has been in New Orleans and on the job with Children's Bureau just a few months now having come from nonprofit management in Baton Rouge. When we asked Joy what her favorite thing about New Orleans is so far, she said, "I work and live in the heart of the city - in Mid City, and it's awesome to be within 20 minutes of everything. I also love the outdoor artwork by local artists, such as the painted utility boxes that gives the area so much personality."


Children's Bureau has grown in the last few years and now employs almost 50 full-time social workers and support staff. Joy adds capacity to the management team to implement systems and policies that come with that growth.
